NASHVILLE, TN (WSMV) - A brazen burglar was caught on camera breaking into a popular Midtown café Tuesday.
Café Coco, a Nashville, staple, has stood on Louise Avenue for 24 years. Tuesday was the first break-in they’ve ever had.
“One of those freak things that happens I guess,” a manager told News4.
Sixteen surveillance cameras captured a man breaking in with what appeared to be a tire iron at 5 a.m., just one hour before employees started showing up for work.
Several minutes of video show the man poking around the entire restaurant.
“Completely violated,” the manager said, who asked to remain nameless. “This is our home. This is where we go every day and spend a lot of our time together, and somebody broke into our home.”
He estimated $500 was taken out of a cash box.
“Anyone who thinks they want to get away with anything should probably think twice.”
Security camera footage shows the man wearing what appears to be a black t-shirt and a black broad-brimmed hat. He also appears to be carrying a white cloth bag.
If you recognize the man or have any information, contact police or Crime Stoppers at 615-862-7400.
