Hometown hero James Shaw Jr. was honored at Saturday’s Nashville Sounds game.

Before the team took on the Memphis Redbirds, Shaw was given a $4,000 check and he threw the ceremonial first pitch.

In a tweet, the team said:Tonight we honor James Shaw Jr. and his bravery during a senseless act that took four lives.Shaw confronted a gunman and took away his AR-15 after he opened fire on an Antioch Waffle House on April 22.

Since that encounter, Shaw has been honored by the Tennessee legislature and appeared on several TV shows sharing his story of bravery.
