I-40 to close again this weekend for bridge repair project

Interstate 40 will be closed along the south loop of downtown Nashville for TDOT work again this weekend.

This is the third and final weekend-long closure connected to a $5.8 million resurfacing and bridge repair project.

I-40 will be closed from the I-40/I-24 split near the Silliman Evans Bridge to the I-40/I-65 split near the Adventure Science Center. In addition, 2nd Avenue will be closed underneath I-40.

4th Avenue will be closed for most of the weekend, but police will work with TDOT to open up 4th Avenue and its I-40 ramps to help accommodate traffic from the Kenny Chesney concert at Nissan Stadium on Saturday. Drivers will be able to use 4th Avenue in the bridge area and access I-40 in both directions from 10 p.m. Saturday to 2 a.m. Sunday. I-40 will remain closed to traffic during that time.

Lafayette Street will remain open during the weekend construction.

The closure is scheduled to begin at 8 p.m. Friday and end at 6 a.m. Monday.

Drivers are advised to avoid the area and to plan ahead, as there will be major delays and congestion.
