The FBI is searching for a bank robber behind a series of heists in Middle and East Tennessee.
The suspect, known as the Too Tall Bandit, is accused of carrying out nine bank robberies and at least one pharmacy robbery dating back eight years.
From 2009 through 2012, the crimes took place in White House, Gallatin, and Franklin. The robberies then began happening in East Tennessee, with the most recent ones occurring in Jefferson and Knox counties earlier this month.
In each of the robberies, the suspect walked into the building wearing dark clothes and a Halloween-style mask.
He would walk behind or jump over the teller counter, threaten employees with a handgun that he typically held in his right hand, and tell workers to help him put money from the vault and teller drawers into the bag or backpack he brought with him.
He would then leave through the back of the bank. Witnesses did not report seeing a getaway car.
The suspect is described as a white man, approximately 40 years old, standing between 6 feet and 3 inches tall to 6 feet and 6 inches tall. He’s believed to have brown eyes and weigh anywhere from 210 to 250 pounds. Click here to view photos of the suspect.
The FBI says he speaks in a deep voice that has a non-southern accent. He also walks with a limp or an unusual gait that affects his right leg.
