NASHVILLE (WSMV) - A man was assaulted by staff members at the Tequila Cowboy bar on Broadway in downtown Nashville early Sunday morning.
According to an affidavit, William Ward was assaulted by staff member Guy Coers. Following the initial assault, Ward was being restrained by other staff members when another staff member, Trevor Ault, knelt down and punched Ward several times in the face. Ward appeared to have been held by multiple staff members and was unable to defend himself.
Ward was then detailed by security, placed in handcuffs and was not allowed to leave. Ault said Ward hit him first, square in the face. However, Ault didn't appear to have any marks on him.
Ward was detained for over 20 minutes before police arrived on scene. A portion of security video shows Ward possibly sustaining more injuries after he was handcuffed from a third staff member while being escorted down the hall.
Ward was pressed against a metal wall, face first and doesn't appear to have committed any crime, was held at the bar against his will unlawfully and suffered injuries to his body during the incident. He had multiple contusions to his face and arms.
