Manchester police said charges are pending in a fatal crash that happened late Friday on McArthur Street.
Police told the Manchester Times that Stanley Wayne George, 58, was killed. Officer said George's car was struck from the rear by a car driven by Connie Messick, 32.
Officers said George's car was stopped at a traffic light when the wreck occurred around 7:30 p.m.
George was transported to a local hospital where he died, police said.
Injured were Messick; Sean Cheney, 14; Jordan Meeker, 18; Ruby George, 78; Layla George, 11, and Heather George, 17.
Cheney was taken to Manchester Medical and then transferred to Vanderbilt, police said. He was released Saturday.
Meeker was airlifted to Vanderbilt, where he was listed in critical but stable condition.
Ruby, Layla and Heather George were all transported to Harton Regional Medical for treatment.
Police said all the people involved were from Manchester.
Officers said that Sean Cheney reportedly told them that his mother, Messick, had been drinking vodka before the crash. Police said they also found a vodka bottle in Messick's vehicle.
Police told the newspaper that the investigation was ongoing with charges pending.
Funeral arrangements for George were still incomplete and are being handled by the Manchester Funeral Home.
Meeker was released from the hospital Sunday.
