NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WSMV) - Three students are facing charges after allegedly being found with guns at East High School on Friday, according to Metro Nashville police.

Police said the students were arrested after school administrators conducted random searches and found two guns in backpacks and a third gun inside a car.

Two juniors (ages 16 and 17) allegedly tossed their backpacks as security guards were conducting the search. Once the backpacks were recovered, a handgun was found in each bag, along with other items.

The 16-year-old was arrested and charged with juvenile handgun possession, carrying a weapon on school property, simple possession, and drug-free school zone. The 17-year-old was arrested and charged with juvenile handgun possession, carrying a weapon on school property, and possession of burglary tools.

Shortly after those arrests, a third gun was recovered from a senior’s vehicle. That 17-year-old student was arrested and charged with juvenile handgun possession and carrying a weapon on school property.
