Felon charged in murder of teen at Hermitage apartment complex
He was chased by the gunman to the front door of an apartment and continued to be shot at.
NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WSMV) - A man has been charged in the murder of a 19-year-old at a Hermitage apartment complex in November 2023, according to the Metro Nashville Police Department.
Police said 27-year-old Nakelvious Featherston, a felon, is charged with first-degree murder in the Nov. 19 fatal shooting of Anthony Barksdale. The shooting occurred at an apartment complex on Oakwell Farms Lane in Hermitage.
Barksdale arrived at the apartment building when a gunman suddenly appeared and opened fire, police said. He was chased by the gunman to the front door of an apartment and continued to be shot at.
“Investigation by Detective Kevin Guyton led to the identification of Featherston as the suspect in this targeted shooting,” MNPD said.
Featherston was arrested at an apartment complex on Mountain Valley Drive in West Nashville. He has convictions of aggravated burglary, facilitating attempted aggravated robbery, and evading arrest out of Rutherford County. Featherston was on probation at the time of his arrest.
He also has pending charges in Nashville stemming form a January 2024 arrest for aggravated assault and unlawful gun possession by a felon.
