NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WSMV) – After Tennessee Titans quarterback Ryan Tannehill went down with an ankle injury last week, there was much discussion and speculation across the sports world about who would line up under center to help the franchise start winning again.

According to one NFL insider, Coach Mike Vrabel and the Titans have made a decision. The Titans plan to start rookie quarterback Will Levis on Sunday against the Atlanta Falcons, according to NFL Insider Ian Rapoport. Both Levis and 2022 3rd-round pick Malik Willis will play in the game, according to Vrabel, but Levis is expected to be the primary quarterback, Rapoport said.

The Titans drafted the University of Kentucky product in the second round and 33rd overall in April’s NFL Draft. Levis transferred to Kentucky from Penn State in 2021, racking up more than 5,200 passing yards and 43 passing touchdowns.

Tannehill is in his 5th year with the Titans, after spending his first six years in the NFL with the Miami Dolphins. It’s unclear how long Tannehill is expected to be sidelined with the ankle injury.

The Titans (2-4) currently have a record below .500 while sitting last in the AFC South standings. The Titans take on the Falcons at Nissan Stadium on Sunday starting at noon.
