NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WSMV) - Metro Nashville Police are investigating a shooting that sent two people to the hospital on Monday morning.

According to police, two cars crashed just after 2 a.m. in front of a used car dealership on Nolensville Pike and a shooting ensued. One of the cars was stolen from the dealership when another vehicle crashed into it. Two people inside the stolen car were shot, then fled the scene.

Police said they began knocking on doors for help. They were taken to the hospital with serious injuries.

“It’s a fairly common thing,” says a neighbor who heard the gunshots on his front door camera Monday afternoon. “Six to eight blocks you hear these things. But honestly, right now, I got to say I am not particularly disturbed because I just discovered this.”

Bullet casings were found inside the car and the investigation had Nolensville Pike shut down south of Thompson Lane as detectives attempted to uncover what led to the crash and subsequent shooting.

Anthony Thomas, 20, and a 17-year-old suspect were injured in the shootout and will be charged with vehicle theft. A 23-year-old backseat passenger of the Charger exited the vehicle before the shooting.

The dealership’s employees were not hurt.

Violent Crimes detectives are continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding the shooting.
