UPDATE: KSP releases information in officer-involved shooting in Barren County

BARREN COUNTY, Ky. (WBKO) - UPDATE 7/12/22: The Kentucky State Police has released more information regarding the officer involved shooting on July 9 involving the Barren County Sheriff’s Office.

The preliminary investigation reveals, deputies from the Barren County Sheriff’s Office responded to conduct a welfare check near an address on Paul Clark Road in the Cave City community.

Upon arrival they made contact with Dillon E. Walker, 31, of Westmoreland, Tennessee, who fled on foot from his vehicle, which was located off the side of the roadway.

Deputies located Walker in a field holding a firearm.

After repeated verbal commands to drop the weapon Walker pointed the firearm at the deputies.

A deputy then discharged his agency-issued firearm, striking Walker.

Walker was pronounced deceased at the scene by the Barren County Coroner’s Office.

The investigation is still ongoing.

A suspect is dead following an officer-involved shooting in Barren County.

According to Kentucky State Police, the shooting happened around 4:30 a.m. Saturday Morning in Barren County. The Barren County Sheriff’s Office requested KSP investigate the shooting.

Police say the shooting happened in the Cave City community.

A male suspect was pronounced dead by the Barren County Coroner’s Office. An autopsy has been scheduled at the state medical examiner’s office in Louisville.

“No officers or members of the community were injured in this incident, Kentucky State Police does remain committed to being as transparent as possible while ensuring the integrity of this investigation,” says Daniel Priddy with Kentucky State Police Post 3.

State police say the investigation is ongoing.
