Man killed in crash on I-40 on Saturday

One person was killed in a two-vehicle crash on Interstate 40 in Nashville.

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WSMV) - A 31-year-old Antioch man was killed in a two-vehicle crash on Interstate 40 near Elm Hill Pike, Metro Police said. Officers believe that speeding was a contributing factor in the fatal crash.

According to Metro Police, the 31-year-old man, identified as Isaiah Runkle, was driving a Toyota Yaris and collided with a semi-truck on I-40 east between Fesslers Lane and the I-24 junction.

The semi-truck was traveling in the far right lane at 1:55 am when it was struck from behind by the Toyota. Police are working to locate and notify the man’s family.

Police say the Antioch man died shortly after arriving at the hospital and that the driver of the semi-truck was uninjured. Police have found no signs of alcohol or drug involvement at the scene.
