Lisa Spencer heads up the most experienced team of meteorologists in Middle Tennessee. You can catch her weathercasts weekdays on Channel 4 News at 5pm and 6pm.

Lisa is dedicated to providing Channel 4 viewers with weather coverage you can count on. She has worked around the clock to warn viewers of deadly tornados during severe weather outbreaks. Her dedication has been recognized. She has been honored with a regional Emmy for her weathercasts Lisa has also been named Tennessee Associated Press "Best Weathercast" award winner. While there Lisa led the station's coverage of the record setting Snowstorm 2000, Hurricane Fran and Hurricane Floyd.

Lisa Spencer witnessed first hand the wrath of a major hurricane while living in North Carolina. In 1996 Hurricane Fran made landfall as a Category 3 hurricane resulting in significant storm surge damage and inland wind damage. The winds were still at hurricane force by the time the storm reached Raleigh, over 2 hours drive inland. Three years later, Hurricane Floyd slammed into North Carolina dumping 20 inches of rain and causing a flooding disaster. Lisa was nominated for an Emmy for her coverage of Hurricane Floyd.

While at The Weather Channel Lisa learned from the best, legendary hurricane expert, John Hope. She was a part of The Weather Channel coverage for numerous hurricanes including the memorable storm of 1992 Hurricane Andrew.

Lisa has brought that knowledge to Middle Tennessee to lead Channel 4's coverage of hurricane, not only tracking them to the coast but relating the effects they may have as far inland as Nashville including the 2002 flooding from Isidore and the wind damage from Lili.

Lisa's career began in Memphis at WHBQ. She is a graduate of the University of Memphis with a masters degree in Geography concentrating on Atmospheric Sciences and a bachelors degree in Broadcast Communications. Active in her church, she is a member a choral group and a featured soloist. Lisa and her husband have two children, Nicholas 14 and Alexandra 9.

* Why I love living in Nashville Just click your heels 3 times, there is no place like home. Coming to Nashville is a dream come true. I've been working my way back to Tennessee for many years. I am such a momma’s girl and living just 2 hours from my parents and my brother and sister is awesome. And of course the beautiful rolling hills of Middle Tennessee and the rich musical history is icing on the cake.

* What was your first car? My first car was a 1970s four door Chevelle. It was a retiree from the Bell South fleet. And that was obvious; the classic yellow and blue strips were spray painted white. It was a beauty, not. I shared it with my brother, but he thought it was so uncool that he wouldn't be seen in it. That was not a problem, more drive time for me.

* Birthplace: I was born in Jackson, Tennessee. It’s also the home of Casey Jones, Carl Perkins and Wink Martindale. My family still lives there. Jackson is a great stop on the way to Memphis. The Old Country Store has the best breakfast buffet I've ever had.

*Favorite movies: I love the Lord of the Rings trilogy and The Matrix movies. I still don't understand what happened to Neo.

*Favorite book: My husband and I have been reading the “Left Behind” series. It’s been an interesting and insightful interpretation of the book of Revelations from the Bible

*Favorite sports teams: Of course I cheer for the hometown teams…the Titans, Predators and Sounds. But my truly favorite teams are the soccer and baseball teams my son plays on every fall and spring

*Morning or late night person: I am definitely a night person. If I didn't have children, I could sleep until 12noon everyday. I still don't remember the 2 years that I did the morning show with Holly here at WSMV. I must have been sleep forecasting.

*Pets: Seven years ago, we adopted Theda Franco, a retired Greyhound. She’s long and lean with a beautiful brindle coat (or tiger stripes as my daughter would say). Theda gets lots of attention when we take walks. Now Lisa and her family foster other greyhounds when they are retired.
