Cleanup Effort Took Hours

There was a major roadblock on Interstate 40 until the early hours of Sunday morning.

A tractor-trailer fire blocked eastbound traffic near Mount Juliet around 7 p.m. Saturday.

It happened, just after the Wilson County line, when a semi-truck hauling a load of lemons ran over a mattress and bed frame someone else dropped on the freeway. That, somehow, ignited the cab into flames.

Authorities from several counties worked through the night to unload dozens of crates of lemons. The work didn't end until around 3:00 a.m.

The semi's driver was not hurt.
