Open Table helps keep homeless safe in heat

NASHVILLE, TN (WSMV) -

The high heat can be extremely dangerous, especially to Nashville’s homeless population.

Volunteers with Nashville non-profit Open Table were out in full force bringing water, food and clothing to people in need.

They said water, food and bug spray are extremely important items during the hot summer months.

The non-profit’s goal is to prevent heat stroke and keep people healthy and out of the hospital.

“A lot of times when you sweat through your clothes and you just have to wear those socks, your feet stay wet and that’s not healthy,” said Susan Adcock, an outreach worker for Open Table Nashville.

Open Table said it is out every day trying to help as many people as possible, but it is always in need of donations.
