Man arrested after allegedly killing girlfriend in north Nashville

NASHVILLE, TN (WSMV) -

Police have identified the man accused of beating his girlfriend to death in north Nashville.

John Holman Jr., 51, was arrested in Clarksville Monday morning. He is charged with criminal homicide.

According to the Clarksville Police Department, Holman was arrested after he ran his vehicle into the Cumberland River in Clarksville. Officers reported Holman made admissions about the murder of his girlfriend, Donna Adams.

Adams, 46, was found dead Monday morning inside her home in the 1600 block of 21st Avenue North. Police found her body after a forced entry into her home shortly before 7 a.m.

Holman was convicted of two counts of domestic assault in 2016 arising out of a dispute with Adams and their adult son, according to the Metro Nashville Police Department.
