If you’re a mom or dad, chances are you may already be running out of ideas on what to do with your young kids during the daytime.

The Bicentennial Mall may have the best splash fountains in town, but there’s another park, maybe less known, on the other side of the river.

Just behind Nissan Stadium and an easy walk from the John Seigenthaler Pedestrian Bridge, you will find Cumberland Park and it’s spray and play fountains that help keep kids happy on a hot summer day.

Sara Harris brought 2-year-old Mary to the park.

“She loves it,” said Sara Harris.

Whether you choose to stay dry on the side or delve into ankle-deep water, your kids can likely do it all without you. Just watching them is a joy.

“They go right for it, no stopping them,” said one parent at the park.

It’s free and easy. You relax and take a break, your children do all the work.

“My wife’s friend knew about it,” said the parent. “We just came by to check it out.”

Dad is used to watching his two boys, that’s chaos on land.

“Now it’s more like chaos on water,” said the parent.

At Cumberland Park where the water is cool and so is Mary Harris, unless the boys splash her. Her cold stare is sure to make them stop.

Cumberland Park is located at 592 S. First St., across from downtown Nashville.

The kids won’t care about the view, but it is a great way to see the ever-changing Nashville skyline.
