Arkansas man charged in fatal Tennessee crash

MEMPHIS, Tenn. (AP) - An Arkansas man has been indicted in a crash that killed a 22-year-old Tennessee woman.

The Shelby County District Attorney's Office said Monday that 28-year-old William Lapradd has been charged with reckless vehicular homicide. He is out of jail on $60,000 bail.

Investigators say Lapradd, of West Memphis, Arkansas, was driving his SUV in Memphis in February 2016 when he ran a red light and hit a car that was turning in front of him. Aries Brooks, a passenger in the car, died at a hospital.

The case is now in Criminal Court. Michael Snell, Lapradd's lawyer when the case was in a lower court, said Lapradd is not guilty.

Snell says the driver of the other car had a suspended license and should not have been behind the wheel.
