NASHVILLE, TN (WSMV) -

A Hendersonville police officer is on administrative leave after he was arrested on a DUI charge last week.

Hendersonville Police confirmed Derick C. Brewer was placed on administrative leave after he was arrested early Thursday morning by Metro Police. Brewer is currently restricted to office duty.

Police stopped Brewer after he was observed speeding at 5:06 a.m. The officer who pulled Brewer over observed indicators of impairment, according to the affidavit. The officer said Brewer stumbled as he got out of the car.

Officers said they could smell the obvious odor of an alcoholic beverage and that Brewer’s eyes were bloodshot and watery. According to the affidavit, Brewer admitted to consuming five Jamison and Red Bulls earlier in the evening.

Brewer agreed to take a breath test and registered 0.103 and 0.108 according to the affidavit.
