SMYRNA, TN (WSMV) -

A flower planter at the Captain Jeff Kuss Memorial was vandalized overnight just days after its dedication.

Smyrna Police said it reviewed video of the area and saw a young, juvenile man drawing a name on the concrete seat on the flower planter.

Police said there were no indications that it was an act of intentional vandalism to the memorial, just a child who wrote a name on concrete.

The writing was not permanent and has been cleaned up and is no longer visible.

Police do not suspect any gang affiliation with what was written.
