NASHVILLE, TN (WSMV) -

The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation said the man accused of killing his former boss with a hatchet tried to buy a gun just days before the attack.

Acting TBI Director Jason Locke said Domenic Micheli tried to buy a gun before the attack at Balance Training in Belle Meade.

The TBI said the sale was denied because Micheli failed the required TBI background check.

Paavola left behind a wife and five children.

A GoFundMe page has been set up for his family. Donations can also be made to the Paavola Family Fund at any branch of Regions Bank.
