Parking prices on the rise at CMA Fest

Posted: Updated:

If you’re driving downtown anytime this weekend, finding a place to park may be a challenge.

Most tourists will take a ride-sharing service like Uber or Lyft or a taxi, but for locals who want to drive down for the day and park, be prepared to pay.

As more and more people flock to the Music City for the biggest music festival of the year, the costs keep rising.

“We live in Lebanon and we’ve been in Tennessee for 28 years and this is our 18th year to come to CMA, but we don’t come as much and as often because of the rising prices, you know, the higher prices and everything,” said Sharon Roush.

The Premier Parking and Park Happy lots downtown nearly double their typical cost during the festival, $30 for two hours, $50 for four hours and $60 until 3 a.m.

The Music City Center garage and the First and Commerce Street garages are open to the public. The first hour costs $25. The downtown library garage is also open on Sixth Avenue and Church Street.

Between lots near Ascend Amphitheater and Nissan Stadium blocked off for CMA employees and musicians and new construction taking away parking lots, the options are getting limited and more expensive.

“Just for four hours is $50 and we were planning on staying maybe six hours, so I don’t know,” said Roush. “We may go further down and see what we can find or come back another day.”
