NASHVILLE, TN (WSMV) -

The deadliest mass shooting in the United States brought domestic terrorism and country music face-to-face.

There were 58 fans killed and hundreds more injured during the Route 91 Festival in Las Vegas.

The night changed the lives of so many stars and their fans.

Jason Aldean was on stage when the sound of gunfire changed lives forever.

Marcie Darden of Denver, CO, just stepped off the plane and came to the Music City Center. She wanted to see one of her favorite stars, Darryl Worley from Savannah, TN.

Darden is trying to resume her life after the worst night of her life.

“It was a great night. We were all standing there and we her boom, boom, and we all looked up in the sky because we thought it was fireworks. Then it was just boom, boom, boom, boom, boom, boom,” said Darden. “We all looked around. A guy that was six feet behind me got hit three times and went down and we all just hit the ground for like two rounds, then a girl leaped over the fence and she was like ‘Go now! Go now! He’s reloading.’ So we got up and tried to get over the fence, that’s when I fractured my ankle.

“Just pray for everybody. The 58 angels we lost, everybody else that made it out alive. It’s just amazing that more of us weren’t injured. When they flipped the floodlights on, we were like sitting ducks. It was just crazy.

“I’m going to get back out. I’m not going to let them win. It’s what country music is about.”

Darden said she’s getting counseling and is still trying to overcome her physical injuries.
