NASHVILLE, TN (WSMV) -

Nashville’s music scene is hot, but the city’s real estate market may be even hotter.

Two popular music stores are now moving.

Music City’s man musicians needed instruments and for decades Corner Music on 12th Avenue South has been the place to go.

But Nashville is changing fast and recently the owners of Corner Music and Forks Drums both got offers they couldn’t refuse.

“It took 2-1/2 to three years and people have been trying to buy it for that long and we said no, we’re not interested, we’re not going to do it,” said owner Larry Garris. “Finally someone said ‘Hey, what’s it going to take.’”

The decision is bittersweet.

Employees are sad having been in the same spot for so long.

They’re also ready because the city’s real estate market isn’t the only thing that’s changing.

“Between the traffic and the parking, we have a real issue with people not wanting to come down here any longer because it’s too hard to get in and out,” said employee Todd Zilla.

Both stores will remain open through the end of September and will reopen, they just don’t know where yet.

“We’re going to have a big lot, I guarantee,” said Garris.

“I think people love and respect our store,” said Zilla. “I think wherever we land, people will find us.”
