NASHVILLE, TN (WSMV) -

Thousands of people will be making their way to the Farm as the Bonnaroo Music & Arts Festival kicks off Thursday.

The festival gates opened up in Manchester on Thursday night, but drivers can expect to see heavy traffic along Interstate 24 throughout the weekend.

There are more than 50 artists performing through Sunday. Some of the big names include Eminem, The Killers and Muse. Click here for the full schedule.

The Tennessee Highway Patrol and local law enforcement will be out in full force watching out for safety and helping to ease the traffic along I-24. The main entrance for Bonnaroo will be Exit 111 for State Route 55. Concertgoers will be asked to stick to the right lane of I-24.

Median crossovers will be guarded to make way for emergency vehicles.

Authorities will also be looking out for drivers who are speeding or driving under the influence. THP cited almost 500 people at the festival last year for not wearing seatbelts.
