Pedestrian dies after being hit by car on West End

NASHVILLE, TN (WSMV) -

A man was hit and killed while trying to cross West End Avenue in Midtown on Wednesday night.

According to investigators, the pedestrian stepped into the path of the Nissan A5, which was driving in the far right westbound lane.

William Wolfe, 62, was reportedly not inside of a crosswalk when he was hit between 17th and 18th avenues just after 11 p.m.

The driver told police she was unable to avoid hitting the man. Charges have not been filed against the driver.

Wolfe was taken to Vanderbilt University Medical Center, where he died from his injuries. Wolfe is believed to have been homeless.

According to police, there is no indication that drugs or alcohol was involved in the deadly crash.
