What to watch for if loved one considering suicide

The death of popular fashion designer Kate Spade is sparking suicide prevention experts to speak out about what to watch for in a loved one who may be contemplating suicide.

You don’t even have to make a call anymore, a simple text message will do.

If you send a text, you’ll get a trained counselor 24 hours a day, seven days a week who can help.

Experts say to look out for warning signs.

“There’s lots of warning signs for suicide,” said Joanne Perly, Tennessee Suicide Prevention Network. “Talking about death, giving away possessions that we can see in several age groups.”

You can text TN to 741-741 to talk to a professional. You can also call the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline at 1-800-273-8255.
