The Tennessee Highway Patrol confirmed that an 18-year-old motorcyclist died in a collision in Sumner County on Tuesday.

Caleb Gildersleeve of Marengo, Indiana, was identified as the victim. According to the report from THP, Gildersleeve and a tractor trailer collided on I-65 South at mile marker 103, near Millersville.

Gildersleeve and the commercial vehicle attempted to avoid the collision, but THP says the tractor trailer was unable to stop in time.

Gildersleeve was wearing a full face helmet when he wrecked. There was no involvement of alcohol or drugs, and no charges are expected in this case.

Following the crash, I-65 South was closed and traffic was backed up for several miles. It has since reopened, but traffic remains highly congested.
