NASHVILLE, TN (WSMV) -

Two witnesses who were at a house party on Miami Avenue when a gunman started firing on early Sunday morning told News4 there were more than 100 people at the house during the shooting.

Metro Police are still searching for the gunman, who fled the scene after injuring six teenagers. Three were hit by gunfire and three others were hurt by broken glass trying to escape through a window. All six are expected to survive.

A detective from the Hermitage Precinct confirmed to News 4 the shots came from an AK-47.

The house is owned by a couple from Brentwood and was being rented through a website called RedAwning.com.

Unlike other short-term rental websites which require background checks, RedAwning only requires a credit card to rent a home for the night.

“This company Red Awning certainly needs to be looked into a whole lot more if they’re going to be loose on these kinds of requirements,” said Metro Councilman Jeff Syracuse, who represents the area. “What really makes me mad is they have turned around, patched up the holes, and are now advertising on a more legitimate website.”

Some neighbors are also questioning why Metro Police didn’t notify the public about the shooting until nearly three days after it happened.

The public affairs office confirmed the shooting to News4 only after discovering the bullet holes in the short-term rental home.

“It makes me feel like they’re just trying to cover up the fact that these rentals could be a real issue,” said neighbor Kim Goddard.  “I know it’s bringing in money but it feels like they’re trying to hide it.”
