NASHVILLE, TN (WSMV) -

With little debate Metro Council passed a resolution by voice vote, to continue emission testing in Davidson County beyond 2022.

The vendor who conducts the emission tests at a number of locations has a contract with Metro through that date.

Councilmember Erica Gilmore was one of three council members who co-sponsored the resolution.

It gives future Councils the opportunity to either continue the emission tests when the vendors contracts expire or to stop them if air quality in Metro Nashville has gotten worse during that period of time.

The other five counties that have emission testing are under contract to testing companies as well.
