NASHVILLE, TN (WSMV) -

Music City is known for its live music, but most people don't want it in their living rooms on the night before a long work week.

Dozens who made complaints to Metro Sunday night say that's exactly what they got during the Beck concert at Ascend Amphitheater.

“I am a huge fan of Beck in fact, but I didn't necessarily want to hear it on a Sunday night when I am trying to sleep,” said Beth Thorneycroft.

Thorneycroft lives nearly two miles away from Ascend Amphitheater, yet at 10:30 p.m. Sunday with earplugs in and a white noise machine blaring, the Beck concert still managed to rock her East Nashville condo.

“I get a little frustrated by people who say, ‘Hey you moved here. You knew what it was going to be like.’ You know, this isn't exactly what I signed up for,” said Thorneycroft.

Thorneycroft has lived on Woodland Street since the amphitheater opened in 2015, and she says she's never heard a concert as clearly as she did Sunday night.

“I think Cape Canaveral was a quiet little hamlet before NASA came along. We knew this amphitheater was being built. It was a major project,” said Dave Rich.

Rich lives in East Nashville as well.

He understands the noise can be frustrating late at night during the week, but he says it’s a small price to pay.

“Ascend Amphitheater isn't going anywhere. I think it's one of the best music venues in the U.S,” said Rich.

City officials said they are working hard to strike a balance that will make these outdoor concerts enjoyable for attendees while not keeping up neighbors way past their bedtimes.

The city is looking into purchasing some kind of sound monitoring technology.
