NASHVILLE, TN (WSMV) -

Metro police are still working to identify the man responsible for hitting a golf cart full of people and fleeing the scene of the accident on Sunday afternoon.

The crash on Korean Veterans Boulevard and Third Avenue South happened around 11:30 a.m.

According to officials, witnesses said a white man in his mid-30s with facial hair was initially driving behind the golf cart in a white Dodge Avenger when he attempted to pull around and pass it.

Once in front of the cart, he slammed on his breaks, causing the golf cart to slam into the rear of the truck and run off the roadway into a tree.

The golf cart held five passengers, including the driver. All passengers reported only minor injuries and scratches.

Police are still working to identify the man responsible. If you have any information that could help police, call MNPD's non-emergency line at 615-862-8600 or call Crime Stoppers at (615) 74-CRIME (615-742-7463).
