(Meredith) -- A North Carolina food processor is recalling 17.7 tons of ground beef sold in Kroger stores for possible contamination with plastic bits, according to the U.S. Department of Agriculture.
JBS USA, Inc., is recalling approximately 35,464 pounds of raw ground beef products that may be contaminated with extraneous materials, specifically hard plastic.
The raw ground beef items were produced on March 22, 2018.

The products in the recall bear establishment number “EST. 34176” inside the USDA mark of inspection.
These items were shipped to distribution centers in Virginia and Indiana for further distribution to retail locations.
There have been no confirmed reports of adverse reactions due to the consumption of these products. Anyone concerned about an injury or illness should contact a healthcare provider.
Consumers who have purchased these products are urged not to consume them. These products should be thrown away or returned to the place of purchase.
