NASHVILLE, TN (WSMV) -

Bridgestone is making a big investment in a couple dozen Maplewood High School students.

The company recently donated $10,000 to a school work program.

The students work at Firestone stores on the weekend while they work to get engineering certifications.

“I’m excited because we think at Bridgestone it’s not only our responsibility to grow, but growing in a way we can give back into the community, and this is a key way we do it,” said Bridgestone’s Joe Venzia. “It’s exciting to see all the talent in this room.”

It took seven years of work for the program to become a reality.

The $10,000 goes straight to providing basic needs to the students, like food and clothing during the program.
