(Meredith/CNN) – A nine-year-old boy in South Carolina is being heralded as a hero after he saved his neighbor's life after a car nearly crushed him to death.
Allen Clemmons was working on his mustang when it dropped off the supports, leaving him trapped and yelling for help. His neighbor, nine-year-old Malachi, heard him and thought quickly enough to lift the car before running for help.
“He’s my guardian angel,” Clemmons told WIS. “After it fell on me, I kept hollering and I couldn’t get nobody there.”
Clemmons said he was stuck under the car for an hour and a half, crushing his chest, making it nearly impossible for him to scream for help.
“I asked God to help me, to give me one more holler and send an angel my way,” he said to WIS. “I hollered the last time and then I gave up.”
Right when Clemmons had lost all hope, nine-year-old Malachi showed up. He’d been playing in his backyard, but had heard Clemmons’ final cry for help and ran over. He used the jack next to the car to lift it off Clemmons before running to get help.
“When the tow truck came, they got another jack and pulled him out,” Malachi said to WIS. Clemmons was taken to a local hospital where he discovered he had six broken ribs and a fractured pelvis.
“I don’t think I would have made it another 30 minutes,” Clemmons said.
