Mayor to host Nashville Christmas tree lighting ceremony

NASHVILLE, TN (WSMV) -

A Grammy Award-winning singer-songwriter will help Mayor Megan Barry flip the switch on this year's Metro Christmas tree.

Jason Isbell and his wife, Amanda Shires, will perform at Friday night's tree lighting ceremony on the public square.

The ceremony will begin at 6 p.m.

Hot beverages and snacks will be provided.

The event is free to attend, but guests are encouraged to RSVP online.

Several other cities will be lighting up their Christmas trees as well:

  • Gallatin - Downtown square at 5 p.m.
  • Murfreesboro - Downtown square at 6 p.m.
  • Franklin - Event will take place on the downtown square. Performances begin at 6:30 p.m. Tree lighting begins at 7 p.m.
