NASHVILLE, TN (WSMV) -

Final touches are being put on the floats for Saturday's annual Christmas parade through downtown Nashville.

The parade director says it takes anywhere from three weeks to two months to put the floats together, depending on how intricate they are.

Several new floats will be on display this year, including a model of the legendary Tootsie's.

Kern Studios is behind the float building for the second consecutive year.

"It’s good for the children. They get to see and interact with the people on the floats and stuff. Everybody likes to come to a parade," said Edwin Buddy Dunn, who is the project manager for Kern Studios.

The parade route is reversing this year. It will now start at Nissan Stadium instead of ending there.

The Nashville Christmas Parade will begin at 8:30 a.m. and is expected to end within two hours.

All streets leading to the parade route are expected to be closed on a rolling basis throughout the day on Saturday based on traffic volume and flow. Streets will reopen immediately following the parade. The closures will begin on Friday. Click here for more specific information about road closures.
