6 students transported after MNPS buses collide in South Nashville

NASHVILLE, TN (WSMV) -

Two Metro Nashville Public Schools buses collided in south Nashville just after noon on Thursday, Metro police confirmed.

The crash happened at the intersection of Old Hickory Boulevard and Nolensville Pike.

According to Nashville Fire Department officials, paramedics inspected some students on the scene and six were transported for minor injuries. No serious injuries were reported.

Four students were treated and released. Two remain in the hospital in stable condition.

The students were fourth graders from May Werthan Shayne Elementary School heading back from a field trip. 

The wreck occurred less than a mile from the school.
