Audit points at problems at DIDD

NASHVILLE, TN (WSMV) -

The state agency that oversees some of Tennessee’s most vulnerable citizens has plenty of work to do, according to a new audit.

One of the biggest problems faced by the Department of Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities is a lack of qualified caregivers.

A comptroller’s audit of the department noted some milestones, like closing some institutions.

But there were also shortcomings. Care workers didn’t always make adequate contact with individuals entitled to additional services, according to the audit.
