NASHVILLE, TN (WSMV) -

Police are investigating an attempted robbery at the Kroger in the Melrose area.

According to Metro police, two homeless men who had been previously banned from the store for shoplifting filled up a shopping cart.

They were confronted by an employee, which is when one of the men allegedly got out a handgun and said, "Don't make me rob you."

Officers responded to the Kroger on Franklin Pike and said they watched the man discard the weapon inside the store.

The suspects were taken into custody and charged with aggravated robbery, public intoxication and possession of a weapon while intoxicated.
