NASHVILLE, TN (WSMV) -

The Titans announced plans to honor the West Tennessee woman who lost her husband in the deadly mass shooting in Las Vegas.

Heather Melton will be the honorary 12th Titan at the team’s home game against the Houston Texans on Sunday.

Her husband, Sonny Melton, was shot and killed during the massacre while trying to protect his wife from the bullets.

The couple is from Big Sandy, TN, about 100 miles west of Nashville.

Heather Melton has also created a new foundation in her husband’s honor.

The Living the Dream Foundation aims to help low-income families enjoy the holiday season without stress.

Its first project will provide local families with all of their Christmas needs, including a meal, clothes, decorations and more.

Donations can be dropped off at 1015 Kelley Drive in Paris, TN.
