News 4 teaming up with Salvation Army for Giving Tuesday

NASHVILLE, TN (WSMV) -

News 4 is partnering with the Salvation Army for Giving Tuesday.

Giving Tuesday is the single largest day of giving, following the madness of Black Friday and Cyber Monday.

The Salvation Army has been in Nashville since 1890, providing strength, hope and supportive programs to help get families out of homelessness.

Even in good economic times, rent and transportation in Nashville are expensive. Some families are just one paycheck away from homelessness.

"We had one new family come to the center this week. They came in with very little material goods. It's a father with three children. They have no food for the family. They are living in fear, they have a sense of fighting," said Salvation Army area commander Major Ethan Frizzell.

Through year-round initiatives like the Red Kettle campaign, the Salvation Army is helping those who need it the most.
