NASHVILLE, TN (WSMV) -

Centennial Park is saying goodbye to its iconic F-86 L Sabre jet on Monday.

The aircraft will be returning to its home at the Tennessee Air National Guard at Berry Field.

According to officials, the guard approached Metro Parks several months ago expressing a desire to bring the jet back to the airbase.

The aircraft will be dismantled around 11:30 a.m. Monday.

The jet was first moved from the airport to Centennial Park in 1961.
