A Metro Nashville Public Schools administrator accused of harassing female employees says he is innocent.

Dr. Moreno Carrasco was put on administrative leave last week following the allegations, according to a letter obtained by the News 4 I-Team.

The letter states the leave is not a form of disciplinary action but for the purpose of the investigation.

Carrasco spoke to the I-Team by phone on Wednesday.

“I am innocent,” said Carrasco, who is the executive officer over organizational development.

However Carrasco refused to answer specific questions about the accusations he faces.

“I’m holding onto the preposition that we are innocent until proven guilty, and unfortunately I can’t comment on this case because it’s under investigation,” Carrasco said.

The administrator was recruited by Director of Schools Dr. Shawn Joseph in 2016. He first served as the Executive Officer of Priority Schools, before transitioning to his current role.

The I-Team asked Carrasco why he is facing these allegations if he is innocent.

“Obviously, someone is trying to cause me harm,” he said.

A spokeswoman for MNPS would not elaborate on how many complaints have been filed against Carrasco.

"It is important that any person(s) with information has time to come forward," Metro Schools spokeswoman Michelle Michaud wrote in an e-mail. "Therefore, until the investigation is complete, we will not be able to give you an exact number as it may or may not change."
