Sturgill Simpson busks outside CMA Awards

NASHVILLE, TN (WSMV) -

While many of country music’s biggest stars were inside Bridgestone Arena for Wednesday’s CMA Awards, one big name was busking for fans outside.

Sturgill Simpson, who won a Grammy for best country album in February, has criticized the country music industry in the past.

Wednesday night, with his Grammy by his side, Simpson set up two signs in front of his guitar case. One read, “I don’t take requests but I take questions about anything because fascism sucks.”

Simpson received a total of $1,300 in donations that he’s gifting to the ACLU. He streamed the entire performance on Facebook Live:
