MURFREESBORO, TN (WSMV) -

With just two weeks to go until Thanksgiving, food banks in Rutherford County are making the plea to help those less fortunate.

Nourish Food Bank in Murfreesboro is starting to collect donation items for Thanksgiving Day meal kits.

The goal is to collect enough turkeys, stuffing mixes, cranberry sauces and other donations to feed 350 families.

“It's just so important that they feel like they're a part of what this country is celebrating together,” said Ladawna Parham with Nourish Food Bank. “And they can offer that to their families and share in that joy, so I really hope folks will volunteer and donate (to Nourish). But, if it's to another organization, we're thrilled for that as well."

The kits will be distributed next Thursday and Friday, Nov. 16 and 17.

Drop-off sites include:

  • 221 Bridge Avenue in Murfreesboro
  • 130 Richardson Street in Smyrna
