Posted: Updated:

Police in Mt. Juliet are searching for the two suspects who they say stole two cars and crashed one of them early Wednesday morning.

According to police, both cars were stolen from the Willoughby Station subdivision around 1:15 a.m. Both vehicles were unlocked.

After an officer came across the suspects during the burglary, they sped out of the area in two separate vehicles. Officers tried to catch up to them on W. Division Street but couldn't make contact.

One of the vehicles, a pickup truck, crashed on Chandler Road near Hermitage soon after spotting an officer.

A brief search was conducted, but officers were not able to locate either of the suspects.

The truck that crashed was reported stolen from Antioch this week.

Police later said the second vehicle was stolen from the Brookstone area. The vehicle was unlocked with the keys inside at the time it was stolen.

A firearm that was found inside was also reported stolen from Mt. Juliet.

Police said the preliminary investigation ties the suspects to multiple car burglaries. The suspects are thought to be juveniles who wore face coverings and latex gloves during the burglaries.

According to Mt. Juliet Police, they have increased patrols in local neighborhoods to prevent similar incidents.
