NASHVILLE, TN (WSMV) -

Country stars like Dolly Parton, Kenny Rogers and Kid Rock have all parted ways with embattled Nashville publicist Kirt Webster this week, but one of his biggest clients is sticking by his side.

“Kirt has a good heart,” longtime country music artist Janie Fricke told News 4. “He’s worked so hard to gain the notoriety that he’s gained.”

Fricke is a two-time CMA female vocalist of the year and Grammy nominee. She first hired Webster as her publicist 22 years ago.

“He had a respect for artists from my era, from my time,” she added. “Kirt is just a good person.”

On Monday, Webster’s former client Austin Rick went public with accusations of sexual assault, claiming Webster forced him to have oral sex several years ago. Since then, five of Webster’s former employees have told News 4 stories of Webster groping them at work, asking intimate questions, and threatening violence. The five former employees asked to remain anonymous.

Fricke told News 4 she doesn’t believe the allegations.

“If they want to try to get some money or cause a lawsuit or get paid in a settlement, they’ll make up anything they want to,” she said. “There’s no witnesses. No one was there.”

Webster has declined News 4’s requests for an interview.
