Hermitage house fire considered suspicious

Posted: Updated:

Police are investigating a suspicious house fire in Hermitage on Thursday night.

The home on Hallford Court had flames coming from almost every window.

A neighbor told News 4 he heard an explosion and felt his house move.

The flames got so hot that nearby homes were burned.

“When I looked over to the house, the flames were 20 feet high. I could see the house crumble down from how hot it was,” said neighbor Lance Fischel. “Then I could see the siding starting to burn away on my house. I could see the fire going across the grass. It was about three feet from my house before they put that out.”

Multiple neighbors told News 4 the man who lives in the house is Stephen Comiskey. Those neighbors asked to remain anonymous.

In August, police said Comiskey told his 12-year-old daughter they had to jump in the Cumberland River. When rescue boats arrived, Comiskey reportedly would not let his daughter into the boat until she got tired and couldn’t swim anymore.

Police have not yet confirmed this information to News 4.
