3 injured in shootout near downtown Nashville; Police questioning 5 people

NASHVILLE, TN (WSMV) -

Police are questioning multiple people after a shootout injured several people near the Gulch overnight.

Witnesses reported seeing people shooting at each other from their cars along 8th Avenue South near Division Street early Friday morning.

Police said all of the victims and suspects were inside or on the property of the Agenda nightclub on 9th Avenue South.

One of the victims, 25-year-old Ken Dixon, is in critical condition after being shot in the head.

Darrin Tyson, 27, was shot in the ankle, and Mark Tate, 24, was shot in the hip. Both have been released from the hospital.

In all, police are questioning five people and have seized four cars and four guns in connection with the investigation. Some of the people undergoing questioning are from Nashville, while the others are from Memphis.

According to the Metro Nashville Police Department, officers first heard gunshots around 1:40 a.m.

While responding to investigate, they found a Buick sedan that had crashed on the 700 block of 8th Avenue South. Officers said they found more than 50 shell casings surrounding the vehicle.

Officers later found another abandoned car on Gray Street after receiving another shooting call.

On Hagan Street, officers said they saw someone driving with their headlights off while passengers in the car yelled out a name like they were looking for someone. Officers said they seized three guns that they found in the car.

The police department has not released the names of the people who are being questioned.

The investigation into the shootout is ongoing. The ATF is assisting Metro police with the case.
